Cheesecake is a semi-sweet rich tart made with dense, smooth cream cheese on a biscuit base.
The moment I look at the cheesecake – it is a perfectly cut piece of a cake and it sits beautifully on a plate. You understand there are certain things that are just elegant to look at? and this is one such sight! Nothing fancy, nothing bright but calm and pleasing to look at.
First look-
The cheesecake has two layers – the cream cheese layer at the top and the crust at the bottom. The cheese layer is so rich and creamy that it manages to cover the imperfections of its crust – ‘Textured’. But, we all agree that imperfections is what it takes to make something stand out from the rest – bold & strong! In the same way the crust plays an amazing role and takes the huge weight of the cream above it.
My experience –
Talking about my experience with Cheesecake! Well, I have tried at a couple of places before but here I’m going to talk to you guys about the Cheesecake I had when I went to Goa. There were different cheesecakes there and it always gets difficult to pick ‘THE ONE’.
Because you see the thing about cheesecakes is if they are not picked correctly, they might just get too sweet or cream cheese must not be rich and creamy or the crust is dry and hard. Ugh that could be one spoiler mood for the day. But, luckily enough for me I took my sweet little time, kinda measured the cream and the mm of the crust by the looks of it and picked the perfect one!!
I went for the classic cheesecake – the consistency was perfectly thick and balanced out with the right buttery crust. So rich and moist. Smooth, creamy, tangy and warm (even though it’s a cold cheesecake still the feeling was warm. You get the feeling right?!). And the crust! Oh the crust – it has a solid texture and buttery taste. It was so perfectly made that even though there was a high amount of butter in it that holds it strong, it still felt light and airy! The crust part is my favorite, the cream cheese is so thick that it is about 2 inches usually but the 4-5 mm of the crust breaks the too cheesy part above! Now that’s the perfect balance.
Does serving matter?
Let me ask you this – do you guys also have this point about the plate that it is being served in? I mean ofcourse the art of serving can make or break that feeling right! Imagine a classic cheesecake (which is white in color usually) and that being served on a white plate again. Isn’t it just blah then??
Imagine this!
Now imagine a rich cheesecake being served on a bright and classic plate that tones perfectly with the cake! It adds the dreamy and picture perfect feeling to it right. Then you take the fork and cut the piece of the cake. Glides smooth and soft till the crust part and then very little pressure to cut the crust. That’s your piece!!! DANG. (WOW, seals the deal for me)
Why are Cheesecakes expensive?
It’s all to do with the ingredients involved in making a cheesecake. Cream cheese is the most expensive ingredient out of all. Quality is all that matters when it comes to such delicacies. Also that’s the thing about cheesecake. When people say they don’t like one, that is probably because you did not try it at the actual authentic place!
What are the types of Cheesecakes?
New York baked
Classic
Blueberry
Vegan
No-bake
Strawberry
Lime
Tiramisu
These are a few of the popular cheesecake varieties available in India. If you are trying it out for the first time I would suggest going ahead with Classic cheesecake, New York baked cheesecake or the Blueberry cheesecake. These are usually amazing and perfectly balanced. Please don’t try with Lime or Vegan forms as these are acquired tastes!
Doesn’t this sound like you wanna try it once at least? I hope you Friends are curious to try out a cheesecake soon – very soon like this weekend please!
Until then enjoy your next meal 😉
